The Centre's Coconut laboratory is dedicated to harnessing the miracle qualities of the coconut and using them to improve the lives of both trainees and our customers. Copra, the coconut flesh, is processed into soaps, creams, and oils for a variety of culinary, health and household uses. The astonishing preserving and energy-giving qualities of coconut oil and coconut milk are currently under-appreciated across most of the world, but this growing market provides a potentially rich source of income for poor countries like Laos where the trees are plentiful. The trainees at "Les Artisans Lao" will be at the front of developing the processes for transforming coconuts into a source of sought-after products and reliable income.
