The forge or "maison de feu" (House of Fire) is the Centre's hot house, where participants will learn to control the power of fire, using it to transform natural materials into objects of value and beauty. A foundry and forge will be installed so that trainees can use recycled metal. A charcoal-fired kiln will be used to fire the works of our potters as they learn to express traditional Lao motifs and themes with contemporary pottery techniques. A corner of the forge will be used for teaching wood carving, using wood reclaimed from old houses, tree stumps, and pieces rejected by mills because of their shape or size.
